Default Closed Deck H22

Is there a Benefit of having a closed deck H22 vs an open deck H22... I'm pretty sure the Closed deck H22's were in the 92-96 but I heard that the earlier H22's wouldn't pass emission testing has anyone heard this too

With closed deck, it's stronger than a open deck as they have more vibration and what not.

Closed deck is much stronger, less chance of out of round cylinders.
Better heat distribution

probably negligible weight difference. it is really not that much material. a lot of the strength is theoretical though as the rings and ring lands go out on stock pistons long before the sleeves have hit their power limit.

^ this.

A closed deck probably weighs no more than 10 pounds over the open deck..

the water jackets are still The same.

And yes the rings and ring lands is the weak point on MOST oem pistons.
