Default Semi OT: Honda MTF

Oh my god... am I just completely missing something here? Wanted to get some Honda OEM MTF for my ITR tranny rebuild...

Called up my local Acura dealer.. $5.76 /.
Called up my local Honda dealer.. $7.75 /.

Then he asked me and I quote, "what year tranny fluid do you need?". Uhhh.

I've found just the opposite. Acura's lineup is a lot more expensive....

You being a smartass or talking about parts?

Parts and supplies shared between Honda and Acura (oil filters, spark plugs, Hondabond, valve covers, etc) are always more expensive from the Honda dealer here.

I disagree.

My Acura dealer is routinely 5 - 10% more expensive than my Honda Dealer here...

People still pay retail price on OEM parts?

Hmm. Maybe it's just the fact that the local Honda dealer (who I won't name, other than to say that it starts with "L" and ends with "eith") is a bunch of thieving bastards.

I had a coupon once for 20% off parts if I spent $75 at that particular dealer. So I load up on oil filters and MTF. Turns out I could have gotten the same deal at the Acura place across the parking lot, without the coupon

I never said that... The problem with my Acura dealer is that they don't sell for MSRP. They sell for MSRP + 10%. The Honda dealer (right next door) sells for MSRP. To further that problem, I've only ever been able to get the parts manager to give me 15% off at the Acura dealer, where I get 20% off at the Honda dealer... Sigh.

My family and I have bought 4 cars in the past 2 years from this particular Acura Dealership. I can get any car on the lot for $500 over invoice, but I can't get friggin a good deal on parts... The GM/Sales people are great. Their parts department sucks ***.
