Starter stays out in energized position!?!%*#!
------95' GSR---------
So I my starters been lazy lately, sometimes engaging but not rotating.
Yesterday it did this then started on the second try but the gear is now stuck in and running on the flywheel at all times. Very loud. Screwdriver-ear test points to starter and thats as far as I diagnosed it last night. Actually saw smoke coming out of the starter! neat...
The first issue points to battery connections but not the second one.
Im leaning towards just getting a new starter unless you guys think I should mess with cleaning up this one.
Trying to find an oem starter part # as the Honda dealership near me doesn't seem to know how or care to X-reference Acura part #s. I imagine lots of cars use this starter unless the different compression merits a smaller gear or something.
