Default Military TMO?

Hey HT.

Im in Okinawa and im about to start stripping down my haggard ITR in a few months with the hope to ship it through TMO statside. This is what Ive been told I need to do:

-Drain all fluids
-Pressure wash motor, trans and wheels
-Dissassemble motor down to the crank
-Bubble wrap and store in Gorilla case
-Buy beer and pizza for the TMO guys

Anyone whos been through this hassle probally has tips and tricks that would be usefull that they wish they knew prior. Im most likley going to try and take everything back along with a spare B16 I that is already packaged to go. I dont want to strip her down and find out last minute that TMO will NOT ship it (even though the order says they will) and have to mail it all back or look into a container. Knowledge is power......

Thanks HT
-Owen

Actually go to TMO they will have paperwork in REGARDS to what you need to do in order to shipp your ITR. I recently shipped a car from mainland to Oki and was given a checklist. You will also need to get your registration stuff/ title/and some paperwork from VRO.

I'm not shipping the whole car, I'm stripping it and sending most of it (except frame, shell, trunk) back in my household goods shipment. I went to TMO and they spent a hour trying to convince me I couldn't bring a b18c back because I was a Japanese motor and they were never produced in the states. They also told it was a EPA issue and other misinformation to try in discourage me. Anyone else?

I get 2500 lbs and my wife gets 2500 lbs because shes leaving 5 months before me with the little guy. We live fairly humble so thats plenty enough weight to get the car stuff back and everything else; but if not...shes cool if we have to sell the couch and bed to get my parts back.

So I dont need to pull the slugs from the motor? If not I guess ill just break it down to the short-block.

Ive also read horror stories of whole houses worth of parts being left and the Japanese not even shipping tow hooks. I may just pack it in wooden crates and "miss label" it all as other stuff and pray...

Every time I've PCS'd there's always a note in the instructions saying they won't ship car parts, yet every time I've shipped wheels, hoods, all kinds of parts etc etc
