about to change tranny fluid.
ive been on the same fluid since i bought my car and its almost at 30k right now. i have some questions before i change it. How many quarts do i need? how hard is it? Can u guys tell me the process of changing it? thanks!
its not hard to change them...all u need is the 3/8 ratchet to drain them...they are located on the passenger side of the car by the axle...drain them and fill them up...to fill them up, u have to use i think size 14...they are located at where u drain them but more of like towards the top...u need some long hose to fill this up coz u dont have enough room to fill this up...Fill them up until they started to overflow and then close them...Make sure that the car is level to the ground...thats all hope this help u somehow
about 2.3 quarts. Just go to the dealer and get 3 bottles
1. take off front right wheel
2. jack the car up so that it is level
3. take off drain bolt on the bottom of the tanny (3/8 socket or somthing, forgot)
4. drain fluid
5. bolt it back with new ring (I forgot to buy a new one so I re-used my old one)
6. take off fill bolt (above the cv boot and towards the rear of it)
7. fill it with new fluild (i bought a hand pump at kragen, very useful)
8. when fluid starts coming out you are done
9. bolt it back up with new ring (again i re-used old on)
10. put everything back
ps: the tranny fluid stinks.
Let me know if you have any more questions. HTH

I also used that pump w/ a long vinyl tube to fill the fluid in the fill hole.. you can also attach a tube to your funnel if you wish to do it that way.. either way works.. good luck

might i recommend taking off your filler bolt first before you proceed to drain.. i was about to change my MTF and i decided to take the filler bolt off first incase i couldn't take it off after i drained it.. much to my chagrin.. that's what happened.. that filler bolt was on there pretty damn tight.. i'll probably make another run at tommorow or so
you dont want to drain and then not be able to fill do ya?

I miss my 94 GSR..........especially the Y80 trans......no grinds gotta love those double coned synchros on 2nd and 3rd gear
Yes trans fluid wreaks so horribly bad..........especially used trans fluid
I belive that on the drain bolt you dont even need a socket. You just take a 3/8 drive socket wrench and put the the square piece into the square hole.....i thought that that was pretty cool when i was changing my trans fluid on my old gsr.
