Hey guys, just registered here, and bought my 1995 Civic DX not even a week ago. But this morning and afternoon, it doesn't want to keep running. I'll start the car, and it will only remain running if i hold the key like i was starting it, it runs, and drives if i hold the key there, but when i let go, it turns off. Any suggestions? I was told by some friends/mechanics could be an Ignition Switch problem. But I thought i'd check. Thanks guys

 

Yea sounds like your ignition switch is on its way out.

 

Okay, sorry if i'm in the wrong section just realized theres a technical forum haha. But alright, i'm not to familiar as i'm still learning about cars. So i have no idea what to do but i have people to help. The owner said he switched the Ignition as a whole recently but i'm not sure about the ignition switch.

 

Just replace the electrical part of the ignition switch. You can buy this part for about $50 on eBay.
