just for posterity.
some updates on the bike frame modification. got the frame tucked in to fit the seat over. fitting the rear chrossbar for mounting flanges, the new instruments are installed. a photo of a HUGE hide and interior done in the same leather.

Just a thought... Did you ensure the rear wheel can go through it's full suspension travel without hitting that crossbar? It looks to only have about 2-3 inches of clearance above the tire, probably not enough to accomodate the travel.

notched stock tube has been closed off, the new crossbar is welded on, no interference from the wheel, but i will have to fabricate a new fender from carbon fibre (oh darn!
). got the mounting bracket welded on and cleaned up all the bird **** welding (LOL). tomorrow i will attach the seat and strip the tank off (gonna do a brushed bare metal clear coated). still need to make moulds off the fenders, make the new CF fenders, a new battery box out of CF and might make a bobber fairing out of CF as well.

I hate to post this again but I have a feeling this bar will interfere with the wheels travel. Keep in mind it won't have any problem with only your body weight sitting on it, the problem will come when actually riding it and hitting various bumps and dips in the road. I'm frightened to think of the result of the tire hitting that crossbar at even low speeds.
I would use ratchet straps around the frame and swing arm to crank those shocks to their full travel to make sure. Can't be too careful.

that's what i have done
the springs bottom out before any contact. it is close.
i will end up replacing the rear shocks to match the front stiffer suspension i have installed.
