I'm just curious if anyone here knows what that big canister is for on top of the shorter running B20Z intake manifold is for? Has anyone removed it and does it run fine without it? I really see no use having it up there but maybe it does serve a purpose that I'm just totally aware of....

I see....so that's all it is. I guess it really doesn't need to be there if you already have a loud car lol. Thanks NZ-DB8R

I wouldn't think that would be possible with a encloser as such. It's like putting a jar to your mouth and selling it and trying to suck air out of it...that's just my impression of it.

Yeah you can take it off and cap it. On the giraffe manifold, if you swap it out or like a blox or skunk 2, you will lose tourqe... That plastic piece should have the same result
Shorter intake runners are good for higher RPM power, longer runners better for low RPM power.
Look at ITB set ups, longer trumpets from low RPM, shorter trumpets for high RPM
take it of put a filter on it, or else just get rid of it and get a blox IM...
one of my guys on mnhondas has a preformer X manifold for cheap. i can lowball him to sell it for like $150.. lol

The last thing you would want to do is put a filter on it. Would make the car run like **** due to introducing air into the manifold/engine after the MAP sensor (hot air too)
Lol. Go ahead and remove it or put a filter on it and start your engine.... Wonder what happens when the world becomes your plenum, maybe a black hole? Lol.
The chamber is there to increase plenum volume which increases torque in the lower rpms. It would be interesting to see a dyno comparison with it removed and capped off to see if the upper range is hurt by the chamber.... I doubt it but would be nice to know.

Ive ran my v with a BG LS2 cap upside down in it using the oe rubber from the chamber. I have a cool air intake and a nice custom 4 into 1 thermal wrapped header with cat delete extension bung and full 2.5 all the way back on my aWD manual.. The decision to put the chamber back on came quickly because the power gain was MINIMAL ,short lived and was not worth the midrange torque lost... Now with a Vtec head the Blox or skunk would be worth the money because the flow characteristics change.. but in stockish form (no vtec) im pulling all i can with the chamber

Interesting...I'm glad I asked because now it seems like this chamber has multiple purposes. I guess I'm just gonna keep it on until I drop in the new motor. Until then, it'll just be an eyesore that helps with the up-and-go tq.
