Hey everyone i need help! My harmonic balancer loosened. As i inspected the screw was loose. took balancer off and noticed the woodruff key was out. as i was puttin it back in i noticed it wouldnt go all the way in. how do i line it up so it would go all the way in? in dire need of help!

 

the crank bolt will help it go in. make sure the key isnt bent or marred.

 

Thanks for the reply. I cant put the balancer flat on because or the key not lined up with hole inside. how do i line it up so the key will go all the way in?

 

sounds like something is bent out of shape since your balancer was loose. the key should be a straight wedge shape.

 

um sorry.the key is straight but the keyway isnt lined up. anyway i can line up the keyway so the key can go all the way in? any ideas?

 

take off balancer and put it back on straight?

will send pics shortly. but it seems is if the key is too long (which couldnt be) or the keyway into the crankshaft isnt lined up.

 

Dont know how to upload pics but i got the balancer on and now the car wont turn over. i also smell gas. does that mean the timing is off? need her fixed this week and i dont want to get ripped off.

 

taking the balancer off and putting it back on wont affect timing. do you have spark?
