Post got a used d16z6 motor, is the motor any good, what to check..noob??

i got a used d16z6 engine for 100 bucks. first of all it looked very greasy and. i cleaned the motor clean. it looks like some good it has some oil inside the oil pan. when i inspected the motor it looked like it didn't have a timing belt on it. previous owner said it was turboed and engine was removed because fuel injector clogged. is this engine F***ed up? the crank can be easily turned by hand when i removed the crank pully bolt/pulley.

i noticed the key way on the crank gear missing. i bought a crank key but the crank shaft where the key way sits seems to be damaged like notched in one side i also cant remove the dam crank gear off. the crank gear comes off 1/2 but i dont want to force it off. i sprayed pb blaster. didnt have the time to remove it i was thinking sanding the side untill it comes off. is this normal.
also how do i check if the whole motor is even worth fixing up to begin with.
i was assuming to compression check the motor? how do i do it, i have the trans bolted up and a starter/ the crank area is already f***ed, key way also the crank gear seems to rock like a tiny hair when i just wiggle the crank gear. can that be repaired?
i just wanted a daily driver motor for my other car.
what basic oem build do i have to buy and how much will this building this motor cost me.
like new pistons, gaskets hg gaskets, oil pump, bearings etc. i want to get it running for a dd?
i am a noob. and i want to learn to rebuild a motor how do i check if the motor is even okay. how much do i need to spend.
is this motor messed up?

To be honest with you a single cam isn't worth a stock rebuild seeing as how cheap they are. You can find a single that's healthy for $250 with under 140xxx. Gasket/seal kit alone will be $150 for your rebuild. I would clean it up sell it save couple dollars and save time, headache, money.

I think because you're in CA it depends what you are replacing. Emissions will be your primary concern. The Z6 is a good motor for a D series. I think its worth a rebuild. If not I might be interested. Do you have the ECU?

im not looking to get another one i want a side project and see if i can take it apart and put it back together agian. i got the z6 ecu harness transmission, dizzy, new clutch, valve cover gaskets, seals, and i bought already oil pan gaskets etc. and etc. emision i dont care for it.
i just need to get a timing belt. etc...

the problem is that is there a way to test the engine to see whats the problem, before i tare it apart? what majior works i might have to do?
im new to rebuild and what is the cost to get this to run like new.

my main problem is the crank pulley, i removed pulley, the bolt, and found missing key way, the area is damaged where the key way sits. The crank gear cant even be removed like 1/2 way in the gear. is it supposed to be like that. how much is this is going to cost or even is it repairable new crank...

if i put a tb on is there a way to test for compression, how???
