LOCKTITE 660 for d16 keyway slight slit on the edge.

Post LOCKTITE 660 for d16 keyway slight slit on the edge.

ok im in for installing my motor back its a d16z6 motor. i am almost finish. the block/heads etc is assembled. my machinist also checked my crankshaft if it needed to be replaced. but he told me that its fine to use and i would just have to buy a new crank pulley. on the other hand the old crank pulley looks not damaged or anything. but i took his advice and just bought a new crank pulley from honda.
the motor i rebuild was second hand and i didn't know the F**ken key way is messed up. the machinest says its good to me so i will rock it. still im a little worried though.

i need to put the timing belt on the and finally torque the crank bolt.
other people told me that i can get away with the bolt not walking away from me and it looks usable. but i still need some asurance. came across a site

locktite 660 retaining compound quick metal.

what is the use of that will it harden like solid permanent?
it says its use for filling imperfections or someof filling gaps in keyway slots etc.



im thinking on using this as an extra insurance measure. the motor i spent some time now. but need it running asap.

also some people recommend that i use locktite blue.


i will sure use the thread blue locktite and when i run my rebuild motor

what is the locktite 660 if i use it will i get it off in the future or is it permenant stuck on the keyway. what is the locktite 660 anyone use it.

i will torque the bolt.

you will be fine its not damaged that badly
but when it comes time to do a timing belt pay someone cuz that pullys gonna be a bear to get off with that locktite everywhere

i would not worry to much i had one WAY worse than that and i reformed broken spot w/ jb weld and filed to fit pulley and the key. it lasted about a yr and then broke again so i finally replaced crank. but again mine was WAY worse than that.

Let me tell ya, I've JB Welded keyways that no longer looked like keyways and they never slipped. Skip the Locktight on this one and just stir in some JB IndustroWeld.

ok i will look into getting this done. my main concern is that ive spent way too much money on this motor for me. i should of gone with a new crank but my machinist told me that its sill okay. and i shouldn't worry about it. should i trust him. now its all together and now i searched a S**T load of google and feeling less determined that my keyway on my motor is safe?

ok did u put the jb weld and form the keyway let it dry then put the keyway key/pulley bolt back???

how long does this last also my motor will be soon boosted also.

First you may need to clean it and make sure there is no oil residue or grease. Then smear it all in the keyway and on the pulley. Before it's dry, install your pulley and torque to spec/yield. Let sit/dry for however long it says on the box.

I've never had a loose pulley using this stuff. In fact I removed the pulley over the summer for a partial rebuild and had trouble getting it off due to friction from it being so tight. I'd say it will last indefinitely, or maybe longer than the pulley.

*edit*
Also inspect the pulley for damage. If the pulley is worn through, you might need to buy a new one.
