Default Rev (rpm) sticking

so from the other day ive been noticing that sometimes while im driving i come up off the gas pedal, but the rpm isnt goin down .. and then recently in traffic after moving up a few feet and having to stop i see that it sticks at 2000rpm .. ive seen it go higher but thats the general area that its been holding the rpm

so i check to see if the accelerator cable was sticking .. it wasnt but i even went as far as to grease just in case .. but its still doin this

i recently changed by intake manifold but havent gotten a chance to tune the car ..

somebody said something to me .. that it could b the idle valve goin crazy because i havent tuned ..

is that correct ?? have any of u ever experienced this ??

my gsr seems to do the same but its only with the edelbrock throttle body. if I switch to a regular Honda throttle body it doesn't do it. I've had it off many times, I don't know what it is and it only does it after a good full throttle mashing.

well not quite the case in on my gsr ..
i dont have to go full throttle for it to hold the rev .. and as far as TB goes its the stock b16a TB i think 62mm or something like that .. so not sure if that has anything to with it ? granted the TB was changed the same time as wen i changed my IM to the p30 one

MM&Y of car would help.

Are you saying the RPM stays at 2000 or the tach needle sticks at 2000 RPM but the actual engine RPM drops to normal? 94

1998 RHD GSR INTEGRA - B18c1 engine - p30 intake manifold

been observing it more .. as its been happening more often ..

ok driving .. come off the gas .. rev stay right whereever i was i was at ,, 2k rpm .. 3k rpm .. but once it starts doin that i jus tap the gas pedal and the revs drop back to normal .. lol right now i use it like cruise control sometimes .. but it only started happening after i changed intake manifold ..
as i say i was told that its the idle valve sensor .. and that it will be fixed once i tune but some how it jus seems strange to me .. was jus wondering if anybody else experienced this b4 ..

Sounds more like something is sticking, if it will do it while you are parked with the hood up set it so RPMs are up and then check to see if TB cable cam as returned all the way back to the stop. 94

Take the intake hose off and see if the butterfly is sticking. It could even be the throttle cable.

Any updates???

my car is doing the same. I have an Erick's Racing 68mm TB on a b16 sk2 manifold. Just recently at the IFO Phoenix race...the TB or cable was sticking and the revs was shooting up to 8 or 9k when I start the car. I have to immediately kill it.

What would cause the throttle cable to stick? How to fix it?

In my case i came to realize it really was the cable .. after changing IM the mech changed the mounting position of the throttle .. so i moved it back to its original position and relaxed the cable as it was a bit too tight .. hence causing it to stick ..

after this tho i changed TB to the euro R one .. had the same issue .. but i then came to realize that the euro r TB doesnt come with the screw so u can turn down the idle .. instead its located right under the throttle lever ..

TPS is good.

My idle adjustment screw cam out and I need to replace it, but I put the cable on title enough so that the car would idle and it idles for a second or two and the revs start going up to the moon.
