New 98 Civic EX 2dr Owner - Window Regulator Question
Hello everyone..
I recently picked up a 98 Civic EX 2dr as a daily driver.. I had a 91 Civic DX hatch that i sold to buy a bigger family SUV (still miss that car)
Anyway... Ive been spending time bringing the car back to some semblance of its former glory.. cleaning it and fixing the little things.. one major thing is that the driver's side window is off the track... I have read a ton of posts on how to put it back in and how this is very common.... well today I pulled the door panel off and tried to pop it back in.. the glass pops right back out when you put the window up every time (power windows btw). I noticed that the rear part of the window glass doesnt go down all the way, so i started looking at the window regulator.. i was wondering if you all could take a look at this.. is this thing bent? It sure looks bent to me and maybe thats why the glass is pitching towards the front of the car as it goes up and then pops out..
Here is the pic I took today...

Im pretty sure the window was down as far as it could go in that pic...
thanks

just an update... I bought a new regulator... Hondas are so ridiculously easy to work on.. lol.. BUT.. in their infinite wisdom Honda put phillips head screws to secure the power window motor to the regulator.. and they were stuck.. so rather than risk stripping out the heads I simply put the new regulator up to the old one and straightened the old one out.. it now works perfectly.. smooth and wonderful.. I kept the new one.. I'll buy new screws (or probably socket head bolts) and if and when the old one bends again I'll just cut or drill the heads off of the OEM screws and put it all together... but for now I'm loving it..
hmm.. Id be very surprised if that was the case.. these were most definitely not torx or hex head.. maybe it wasnt the original assembly.
If I am wrong, please let me know.. Its easy enough to pull the regulator back out to check.. but then again its working like butter.. hehe

oh.. if anyone knows the thread, pitch and length of those 3 screws that hold the power window motor on to the regulator that would be awesome.. otherwise I'll just bring it to Lowes and test them out.
thank you.
thank you.
I don't know about eBay regulator, however, the Dorman 741-735 and equivalent for the passenger side are absolutely excellent quality replacements and have addressed some of the oem design flaws. Available on Amazon for ~$55. I have put in three of them and all have been flawless. I did use oem replacement rubber gasket and track assembly on the worst and it helped to do that
All screws are phillips head on both EK Civics I own and replaced the parts for.

Mine is a 98. I also purchased a Dorman replacement as I used to sell Dorman parts and they were good quality and price point. I bought just the regulator as the window motor worked fine.. If I had bought the regulator and motor assembly together (they offer that as well) I would have been fine.
Should have added details. I have a 00 LX 4 door, a 99 LX 4 door and a 98 EX two door that was stripped to shell, caged and is now a dedicated track car. All three cases, the window regulators came out with a philips head. Torx are more common on German cars than Japanese, but that doesn't mean some did not make their way onto an assembly line during a run. Never can have enough tools.
