Default 92 eg won't start

92 civic vx hatchback without ps

Went to start it today after sitting a few weeks and the battery was dead. So jumped it started briefly and died. Tried again and the belts started screeching extremely loud and a ploom of smoke shot up from the driver side near the ac pump before stalling.

Possible my AC pump or alternator pulley froze up after sitting such a short time?

Belts are tight and in tact. I couldn't visually verify what was going on since I was starting the car.

What do you thinks going on? Charging the battery for the night before doing any more diagnosis.

Was it running just fine before you let it sit for a few weeks?!? im just wondering why u let it sit for a few weeks...

i definitely do not think the ac pump or alt pulleys froze up so i wouldnt start there...

i cant really think of what the ploom of smoke could be from, maybe from a leak in the header somewhere...if it started briefly it def seems like you are getting crank and spark, is there gas in it? lol

OP were you having issues with the AC pump before?

it sat for a few weeks? could be bad fuel but most likely not because it wasnt long enough for fuel to go bad.

have you checked your spark?

when trying to turn it over do you smell fuel from the exhaust?

It's definitely my alternator pulley not spinning... How does that happen my car sat for a few weeks after running fine and now it's frozen up. Trying some pb blaster on it but is it likely my alternator is shot?

I have remanufactured alternators in my Civics. They come with lifetime warranties so replacements come at no cost.
