Working on my aunts Honda because she knows I'm pretty Honda savvy but I haven't worked much with 96+ or automatics.

Here's the problem, sometimes it won't downshift from 4th unless you manually knock the shifter down. Since it does come down manually and upshifs fine I don't feel it could be the spring inside.

I'm leaning towards the shift solenoid but I'm not sure and I also heard there's 2 different ones.

Anyone have any other idea's on what it could be or wich solenoid it is? Thanks

Ps: its a 97 ex. Someone's changed the block to a y7 but it still has a y8 head, could vtec cause any shift problems bcause I doubt the oil jet was pulled.
