Default NEED help with B18C1 plz!!!!

Hello H.T. I was hoping someone one here can help me out. My brother and I recently purchased a B18C1 that had a blown headgasket. When we picked it up the previous owner had already disassembled the I.M, and seperated the head from the block as to he was curious of what it looked like. Now my brother and I are rebuilding the motor and are stuck putting the Camshafts in. We have the block lined up at TDC but not sure how to install the camshafts. can we install them then turn them so each mark on the cam gears are facing each other? If not someone pleaseeee help. Thanks

Yes you can install the cams onto the head and tighten down the cam caps without the timing belt on.

So, I can install my camshafts, tighten them down then put all the components to their timing marks afterwards and install the belt?

Thanks for your help. Sorry one last question, does each Cam have to be turned "x" amount of times before lining up the marks or just line them up after I install them turning them counter-clockwise? Thanks again

Doesn't matter. Just install them with the UP arrows facing up so you don't have to turn them over so much.

Well probably way too late now, but when your installing a set of cams leave the timing belt off, and move the motor a little off of tdc at the crank pulley. Throw your cams in with the up arrows pointing up, bolt the cam caps down, then line the cams up at tdc. Then move the bottom end back to tdc on the crank pulley. The idea behind this is that the cams will never just go in at tdc, you will always have to move them after they are bolted down. If you have the block at tdc when you bolt the cams in, there is the potential for a valve to kiss the top of the piston.

Not trying to sound like a dick here, but if your asking a, well, what I would call common knowledge question regarding assembling an engine, are you sure you should be putting together an engine?
