automatic starter on manual trans?

If its not even cranking over you cant begin to figure out if there is a timing, ignition, spark, etc issue.

First thing's first....

Grab a socket and a ratchet, then try turning the engine by hand. Does the timing belt move? If yes, move to the next step.

Take the small wire off the starter, go to the inside of the car and put the key in the ON position with the car in neutral.

Take a jumper wire and go from the small terminal of the starter to the terminal with the power wire on it. The car should start cranking.

Let me know if it cranks/starts from that point.

i had this same issue on my DA..... turned out to be the malfunctioning alarm system. ripped it out, cleaned up the wires where it was spliced in to, and cranked right up.

Why would the distributor cause a no crank situation? Honestly dude, you're making things harder than they are.
