89 crx check engine light
1989 crx hf has the check engine light on. I cant seem to find or hear anything that's wrong. Its got a new motor and tranny with about 30 thousand on both. My speedometer doesn't work ( didn't work when I bought it) could it be the speedometer cable thats making the CE light come?? There's also rattling. Its not motor problems. Atleast I don't think it is. But at certain revs it makes something rattle. It sounds like Maby a hanger on my exhaust. I'm not sure but its bugging the hell outa me. Ill try to put up a video. Any answers or tips?? Thanks!
if it's anything like my CRX Si, peel back the carpet and check the flashes on the LED on the ECU when the engine light is on. The speedo won't throw a code unless it's an auto CRX you have perhaps?
As for your exhaust, get under there and palm strike it all the way along until you hear the rattle. Chances are the cat has broken apart inside and will need replacing.
Hope this helps

thanks. ya ive hit it till it rattles. it does sound like its busted inside. i plan on a new exhaust so im not going to worry anbout the cat. as for lifting up the carpet. which side. where is it located? thansk man.
Passenger side, turn the key to key on engine off and count the flashes. Long flashes are tenths and quick flashes are single. Get the code and report it
