Default best current gps system

hi guys. i just got my clifford g5 installed and i'm looking for a gps tracking system. i was thinking about a lojack but i want real time tracking. i searched but old threads from 09 came up and i know there is newer products now.

my installer recommended the dsm250 (or vsm250, he said same they're the same thing). so i was wondering if it's better to get one made from DEI (like the dsm250) since i have a DEI alarm. or should i go with a dedicated gps tracking system, like the spark nano or the garmin gtu 10?

if desmond (wrx-killer-Sti-eater) can help out that would be great. thanks

thanks for the reply. yeah the mobile iq unit was the one i came across a lot when i was searching the forums. i searched online but they all said it was discontinued. i'm not sure if my installer has that, i'll give him a call.

have you had an opportunity to compare the dsm250 with the mobile iq? are they on par in terms of gps tracking? i could care less about the smart start that the dei unit comes with. i just need a reliable real time tracking unit. how do you feel about other dedicated gps tracking units?

if anyone else has any feedback feel free to share

Dei discontunied there 210 gps series. Buts thats not a problem cause mobile iq was dei gps tracking system. All of dei old customers went to mobile iq. I can't go into great detail into it cause there are a couple of imature haters that loves to cause conflict that are members on this fourm. But if you search some old threads the same information is on there. I perfer the mobile iq gps unit over the dsm. I carry both.

I've been using the ebay GPS gsm alarm for years. I think It's better and cheaper than that mobile iq can offer with their monthly fees.

how cannot ? The mobile iq depend on other people than you to track it, monitor it. and thats it.
1.Is it have fuel cut at your command anytime?
2.can you set speed limiter by your self, so your friend wont joyride too fast?
3 can you hear what going on in the car, before you walk out that movie theater just because some diesel truck set off your alarm.
4. it can alert more than 1 phone number at your command (in case your phone was silent) the other phone number you set will be notified.
3.the mobile iq unit soo big, the thief can found it and get it off.
4.And the unit price + instalation (gonna be typical place that obvious) + montly fee.

I'm a guy who compare the spec what that thing can do and not before buy it. I think I miss mobile iq spec, you can post it here coz I cannot find it on the web except it's "a GPS monitoring service" with action limit 12 and 180 /year. I don't like pay service I can take care my self. I just don't like car get stollen. Before the tracking monitoring service contact you, your car might be spare part already.

Mobile iq can do all that and provide a better range and less chance of not being in range. And they are credit to the phone companies air service they use. And no they are not bulky as you say and are easy to hide in the car if your not lazy to do the job correclty. I seem to no have a problem with them and many others. There design to be permently installed in the car and is made for the car enviroment. Powered external attenna and gps. And 1.4ma back up battery. That will last a week when power is lost unlike the one you posted.

You apparently did not do your home work before posting this cause you have it all wrong.

Mine have back up battery, I leave the car in baker city of 15fwy to las vegas for a week, broke down before. How can you sure better range, it's uses GSM which only two provider with GSM around here ATT & Tmobile. Which only Use the 2G signal for it's txt msg. Well. Look like it have pretty much the same spec if you said so. I just don't have $20+ to spend every moth for same security. I don't know which one on ebay you see don't have back up battery, but I look the one like mine, they don't post the back up battery no more, but the picture still says it have the back up battery. Oh well.... can you tell me where I can see the whole spec of Mobile IQ, cause it's been discontinue, I cannot find it anywhere.

Not sure were your getting your information that you posted. But you can find out all information from air iq. Any gps unit could doand might do. But I am not going to trust my High dollar investment with some ebay unit when I can get something proven, have 24 hour tech support, Have a company I can talk to if something goes wrong and have warranty support. There are other companies other then mobile iq that provide the same service too.
