mystery motor, whats the original car it belongs in.
i have a 97 integra gs-r and it has a motor swap. its obd1 and Its the b18a1 with DOHC V-TECH. i bought the car and didnt know it had a swap done to it. im a Subaru fan. so it looked to check out stock to me. can anyone tell me what car this motor came from? i need to replace the cam seals and some other miscellaneous parts as well. thanks in advance for your help
From what you explained it seems like you have a LS-Vtec setup. B18A1's are a non-Vtec LS motor. So you probably have a B16 or GSR (B18C-) head.... Just my guess.
Look right on top of the header, look for 3 letter number combination. If it says "pr3" thats a b16 head, p30 is jdm civics, p72 is usdm gsr, and p73 is type r,, then by the tranny where it mounts to the block you will see the engine code.
Type r heads have pr3 as well they have the same casting as a b16 ..the type r heads have a green marked by the dizzy & will have diff manifold then b16 ..the manifold will say p73.. but it can always be b16 with type r manifold ,only way telling is take off VC & look at valvesprings if they are dual then its a type r
the motor still reads b18a1 the head code is pr3-2 all i need to know is year make and model of the original cars so i can order parts. again thank you guys
