Icon6 DC2: lookin to buy a new coilover kit

So ive always run the usual gc koni yellow with top hats on my previous eh2's and never had any complaints with ride quality and handling. Living within a few miles of their shop and personally knowing the owner doesn't hurt either... As of now tho my car runs Megan racing coils with tokico blues and Im hating how bumpy it is. Im lookin for opinions and experience of what others are running on their dc's. I've done a little research and have found that buddy club and function and form seem to be the most set ups people are running. Any opinions out there from others is greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance

don't buy coilovers for a daily driven vehicle, unless you: occasionally track your car, take it to the mountains for some spirited driving, or do autocrosses. if you're just doing it for looks, stick with a shock/spring combo. you've already said you hate the ride with coils, and REAL/BETTER coilovers are only going to give you a shittier ride. sure there are coilovers out there that will give you a comfier ride, but you might as well have the stock suspension in there, because it will handle like a dumpster fire

Eibach Multi-Pro R2 since you've already gone the koni/gc route. IMO, it's a step up if you know how to or can find someone that knows how to dial them in. Double adjustable, remote reservoir, ect. Shelf spring rates suck, but hey, they're easy to change.

Really though, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Why not just stick with the tried and true koni/gc combo?

The more pricey buddy club setup is not bad by any means, but $ for $ the koni/gc combo would win out IMO. Hard if not impossible to find a setup that can compete with the koni setup for under $850.

F&F would be no better than your current setup, possibly worse. They are trash if your goal is anything other than to just be slammed.

I'll go ahead and pretend I didn't see that.. I mentioned that I hate my current set-up (Megan racing coils on tomico blue shocks)

More then likely I'll just call Jay at gc and pick up my usual set-up just wanted to see what others were running.

Well said and youre right. I've run the gc koni set-up on numerous cars numerous times and never had any complaints. With top hats its not $850 tho.. I don't know where you're getting that from?! Not callin you a liar, just don't know who sells it for that cheap, brand new at least..

guess i read your post wrong?? i read you hated megan coils, and assumed you hated the ride...

but i agree with 1998gsr here, off the shelf is going to suck worse than a custom setup.

but i guess i also fail to see where his post is that different than mine....

koni/gc setup is custom, and like i said if you're going for looks its worthless spending $$ on nice coilovers. cuz they'll beat you to hell and need rebuilds faster.

i think we're all speaking the same language here....

I don't remember mentioning once that I'd be buying the set up for looks. This isn't a track car but that doesn't mean I won't drive it hard from time to time. I won't be buying a shelf set up either. I've run the same custom spring rates for years and intend to do the same this time around. So yah...

Sorry, I didn't see where you mentioned using top hats. THmotorsports, a sponsor here, is selling the koni/gc kits without top hats for $850 if you pm them to get pricing.

BC2003UGA, My post is obviously different than yours. Your telling him to put a stock suspension back on his car. I'm giving him a suggestion on a setup that is of higher adjustability and of equal quality to a koni/gc setup.

F&F isnt bad at all. In my opinion its perfect for daily driving. Its a little bit stiffer than stock. You can notice it. If youre gonna dump the hell out of your car get em. but if youre planning to track i then go with koni/gc.
