my gas gauge is really off and i cant figure out why...it says empty most of the time...the only time it really moves is when its completely full it says half a tank but once i get close to half a tank it reads empty...im not good with wiring so idk wat the issue is...need some pointers on how to diagnose and fix this situation

 

could it be that my fuel sending unit is bad?

 

its either the gauge or the sending unit, you should be able to test the sending unit with a multimeter, you will need to find the specs though

 

the fuel gauge RARELY goes bad. It's your fuel sending unit. Swap it out with another "working" unit. Might as well replace the fuel pump with a WALBRO 255LPH while you're at it.
