Unpluged the spark plug wire from the distributor now the car wont start
I was checking the timing on my 90 acura gs and the wire from the distributor popped out...the car idled really low than cut off..now it wont start on a constant basis ...When it does it you cant push the gas peddle all the way down or the engine bogs out...I have checked the spark plugs and wires and distributor and I am getting sparks from all of them...PLEASE help I am beating my fn head against a wall on this one...Thanks Tommy Frustrated Integra owner
I couldn't set the timing cause the car stopped running..Now I can't get it to start at all
I was unable to set the timing due to the fact the car wont start now...I don't know why it wont..it turns over and tries to start but It seems like its misfiring
Are you sure you didn't bend a valve? make sure your not getting any massive vaccum leaks or any interuption between the distributor and spark plug, check your cap and make sure that it's not corroded or filed down aswell, you can if you have a multimeter check your ignition coil and make sure it's putting out correct spark aswell.
That is solid advice...I just spent the entire day yesterday resetting the mechanical timing and I also replaced the spark plugs with the same results..the car turns over but wont start..I hooked up a timing gun from the distributor and I was getting a spark from there but when I hooked it up on the wire for piston one it fired every 10 to 20 seconds. would that mean my wires are bad?? could that really cause all these problems? how would I know what the proper voltage should be from the distributor be?

I replaced the spark plugs and I am having the same results..is there anyway to just check my wires before I spend $100 on new ones?
yea I have the firing order right...the car almost starts sometimes but it always ends up flooded and the spark plugs get coated in gas..
100% sure the firing order is right don't be a dick dude..this site is for help not for smart *** comments
Your symptoms point to a timing or ignition issue. You say it started when you messed with the plug wires. It's an incredibly logical inference for me to make.
Good luck.
sorry misunderstanding testify..no worries...however I replace the spark plugs and wires and after some time I got the car to fire up and it ran like a dream..a lot of H2O came out of the exhaust lol..but the car had all the power and torque back..but it eventually bogged out again and flooded the engine while it was running...... and I am once again left F N STUMPED..please help me out fellas
I would try and swap out the plug wires next, one could be internaly arcing in the spark plug tube
I replaced the wires and the plugs...I double checked the gaping for the plugs at 1.1 mill and it still did this..i just bought a new coil and I am gonna try that *FINGERS CROSSED*
If you say the ignition timing and the firing order is correct too...
I would next check the compression on each cylinder just to make sure the rings did not get glazed by the excess of fuel insede the combustion chamber.... the lack of compression will leave you with no O2 and lots of gas=floating cylinders

Try spraying the wires with water while the engine is running. If you can see spark jumping across the wire, and grounding to the valve cover or a solid ground, replace the wires. This test will give better results if its at night.
Another will be using a test light. Ground the test light and run it across ech wire and see if the sparks jumps across....
Ignition coil is most likely dead. I pulled a wire off of my friend's distributor once to prank him into thinking his car wasn't running right. Diagnosed it to the coil, threw a used one in and it started right up.
yea I already bought a new coil. I am seriously running out of options here..I still cant get the ****** to actually start up..
Ever figure the problem out? I'm having similar issues, replaced the ignition control module and coil inside the dizzy but it would barely start up, die if I gave it gas, and make a horrible squeal/screech as it stopped. When it DID run, it would idle so low that it'd barely register and feel like a horrible misfire (car was put-putting in lopes and shaking horribly) until I could get it to about 3-4k where it sounded kinda normal.
