I have a 4 door 88 civic with the 1.5 dual point. The car idles fine but when i step on the gas the car sputters and half the time it will work through it and half the time it will stall it almost sounds like a miss fire if anyone has run into this problem any help would be awesome thank you

 

Any work done to it before this?
Did this problem all of sudden happen or was it a gradual worsening?
Anything interesting you can share - was the car sitting for a long period of time, you just bought it, etc.

 

Go over the basics...

1. Plugs
2. Wires
3. Cap
4. Rotor
5. Fuel filter
6. Air filter
7. Gas sitting for a long period?
8. Timing correct?

Check said numbers and report back.

 

Thank you for the list i will run through that check list as soon as it stops raining. It was a sudden thing ran strong when i bought it and then one day it just happened

 

Check to see if your throwing any codes. I had a 91 civic 4 door and it would bog down all the time, it ended up being the o2 sensor.
