Wrong VTEC solenoid gasket?
I have a bad oil leak coming from my vtec solenoid/ cam seal, so I planned on replacing the two gaskets on the vtec solenoid and the cam seal. I took the solenoid apart and the gaskets look different than the one I was sent from acura.

The one on the left is the new one I just got. The old one is a lot thicker and has a mesh screen integrated in it. I need some advice on what to do with this. Should I run the new one without a screen? do new ones provided by acura not come with a screen? any help is appreciated.

i ordered it from oemacuraparts.com and thats the one they sent me. part #36172-p08-015. The gasket that goes inbetween the solenoid and the cylinder head was also flat and wide just like the one above. part #15825-p08-005. Although the new one I got had the mesh in it though
Vtec solenoids have different gaskets for b16,b18,h22,d16,NSX... All I'm saying is the vtec solenoid might be from a different car and you ended up with it. They all do the same thing but have different gaskets.
I googled and found this. Yours looks more like the b16 in the pic.

post #9 in the thread you posted shows the flat square type gaskets vs the rounded ones. I don't understand why an acura dealer ship in the US would ship me the rounded gaskets? This is still a bit confusing to me
