HELP. Cams swapped but car isnt starting
hey wassup HT? got a problem with my b20v. I swapped out my old custom cams for some tried and true skunk2 pro 2's. After the swap i go to start the car and it wont turn over, its cranking and the cams are turning but no start. I double checked the spark plug wires connection to spark plugs and the order on the distributor, cleaned electrical connectors, checked fusebox in engine bay and fuel lines, full tank gas, cams are top dead center and belt is tight. Even tried jumping the battery no luck. I advanced and retarded the dizzy while cranking and still nothing. The crank sounds strong. Any ideas would be helpful. I plan on taking the spark plug out and cranking to see the spark is good is that what i should do next or what? any help is much appreciated.
You adjust the valve lash per skunk2 specs? Also correct me if I'm wrong but I believe any pro series cams require dialing in the cam degree
the cam gears are skunk2. they were attached to the cams when i bought them off someone here. I just installed them that way top dead center. I didnt check valve lash because the cams i had in before looked close to the size of the lobes on the s2. I thought it would be ok to just drive it down the road to my house (less than a mile).
Ive read intake +1 or +2 and exhaust cam +4 +5. Do you guys think its the lash or the cam degree that would make it not start?
Im going to check the spark in the morning and if thats good then im not sure where to go next. kinda a newb to this and dont have much help but my gf lol. hopefully you guys can get me through this

ok i read they need to be degreed that is prob the problem. just gotta research about degreeing them. if anyone knows for sure or has the pdf with the install specs?
the specs are on their website
Intake Centerline: 99° ATDC
Exhaust Centerline: 106° BTDC
Valve Clearance (Intake / Exhaust): .007” / .008”
though it is part of your problem, it's probably not the reason your car isn't starting.

with your lash being off, and degree not set, you probably have exhaust and intake valves open at the same time in the same cylinder, causing your combusted gases to come out the intake and exhaust valves, check lash, check degree, then check it all again. if you are getting spark, i would bet anything that your lash and/or cam degree is off a bit
adjust your valve everytime you install new cams you need to adjust your valves
i bet 100% your problem is on your valve adjustment they are to tight!!!
