Default Whining noise when pressing gas pedal

Ok lately I have been hearing this loud whining noise when I press my gas pedal a certain amount. It seems only when I press it half way. Any less or any more and the sound is gone. I'm thinking tranny maybe?

It's a 98 civic with GSR swap and GSR tranny.

Where is the sound coming from, it could be from anything. Does it only happen while driving? Does it happen when on idle?

Gears are whining? Maybe your bearings are getting worn and the gears are starting to mesh funny. Could be the differential.

is not the timing belt. it is the tension on the belt. if the tension to big it pulls the camshaft to much. have u recently replace timing belt or waterpump check it!!!!!

The whining I heard under hard acceleration was coming from the passenger seat. I fixed it by dropping my wife off at the house.

having a cold air intake or even the short ram you have will pull the air harder than the factory airbox or intake, causing a whistle sound when the air goes past the throttle plate when you press the pedal about 50% down... with the car running, listen for a whistle sound whenever you crack the throttle by hand... ust a theory but that could be what youre hearing
