i got a 91 crx si fuel pump not kicking on and no spark. ive replaced the fuel pump and dizzy,main relay checked every fuse 3 times and checked all the grounds. checked the wiring. got to the ecu and the red light isnt coming on and the check engine light stays on. help please

 

That sounds like a bad ECU to me, though I've been outa the game for a minute. If i remember correctly though if you have a CEL and no light in the window, then bad ECU. Or maybe it was constant light in the window? Anyway, I'd suggest seeing if you can find another PM6 ECU to borrow and drop in there, see if it starts. Or alternatively, you could drop yours into someone elses car and see what happens. I don't know if you'll get a CEL if there is no power to the ECU, but you might try and "backdoor" the ECU plug pins with a multimeter and see if the pins for +12V show any power. Personally, I have a good relationship with my local junkyard, so if I were in your shoes, I would go there and see if they have a PM6 I could borrow for a bit, and then buy if it fixes my car. At any rate i think you are looking at an ECU... You could unscrew the top of the case for it too and look for any cooked components within, and smell for burnt electronics smell.

thanks for the reply. yea thats what im thinkin but the local junkyard dosent have one. when i unplug the ecu the cel goes out. checked all the voltage also

 

try your local craigslist, post that you need one in the car parts section. Also, check any local import meets, someone might be able to help you out.

 

Is the G101 ground wire on the thermostat housing clean and tight?

 

yes checked it twice.

 

The main relay receives voltage from three different fuses. Test the main relay plug for voltage at these three terminals.

 

main relay is good ecu is good. gonna try the ignition switch now

 

ignition switch didnt fix it. any ideas??

found a green wire with red stripe in the underhood fuse box that has no power or grounded its in a plug with two other wires anyone know what this is?

 

Might be a bad main relay. The go bad after awhile.it could be ur ecu.

Don't overlook this simple possibility:

 

what three terminals?

 

Main relay plug --> The Yel/Wht (off), Blk/Yel (ON[II]), Blu/Wht (ON[III]) wire terminals should have battery voltage.

ok had 12.5v to yellow/white, had 12.5 to black/yellow and the blue/white didnt have any by turning the the key to 3 if i press the clutch an do it i get 9v

 

main relay, listen for a click when you turn the power on to everything in the car (key on position), i always let my fuel pump prime before i start my EF, just turn it to on and wait for the click

if it clicks its not your main relay

 

it clicks but no fuel pump. i can make the pump come on if i ground the test light and stick it in the socket with the green/black wire but still no spark

 

Did you ground the Grn/Blk wire at the main relay connector or the ECU connector?

Ground the Grn/Blk wires at the ECU plug (A12, A14). Does the fuel pump run?

 

yes fuel pump runs. so ground both wires. are they labeled

 

Both pins have Grn/Blk wires. The test can be done with ECU connector A unplugged.
