Ok so I bought the car about 4 months ago, I knew the car wasn't the best it has 226,000 after a day or 2 i saw after 2nd gear the car didn't want to rev past 4k and would stumble and then change gears but not go past 4k rpm so i always had to make sure i didn't rev out..

Now recently the car began to turn off on me while driving, I would wait a second and keep trying to start it and stay on because she would start but not stay onn and eventually she would start and stay on, sometimes she would have a rough idle but once past 1,500pm she ran fine... Now i thought it was either the recall for the ignition switch or the starter... I hear the fuel pump and the whining of everything else when i go to start the car but all i get is a click coming from the starter area, hence me thinking i need a new starter...

I searched google, forums and no one has had the same issues, Mind you i do NOT have any check engine lights or codes coming up so I don't know what else to think... Any input is great thank you.

 

have your battery tested.if it tests ok,then try to jump the starter.if it dont work,starter is bad.

my starter went out last week,and it made a grinding thump when i tried to start it.your situation sounds like a f'd battery.

 

I'm getting full power to everything though... and i can just keep turning and all i hear is click, click, click every time i try to crank it over... So you think battery? Just doesn't seem like it because the radio comes on, the entire dash... I gotta see where i put my meter and i'll check the voltage...

Any other advice?

 

You could jump the starter selenoid and find out if starter is working.take it out of gear if its a 5 speed..just my fair warning..lol

 

How about if that doesn't do anything, just want to be able to work on the car all at once... im not new to working on cars, jeeps are a lil harder and thats what im use to.

 

if that doesnt do anything,then the starter is bad.sorry for little answers,just trying to give some input so youre not left doing nothing..just keep updating,maybe someone else can pitch in on what they think???
