Default Clutch went out, looking for help.

Hello everyone. Not too long ago I purchased a 1997 Honda Civic LX. Unfortunately, the clutch just went out. This Honda is my first car & I am not sure what I need to do. Fortunately, I have a mechanic & just need to buy the parts.

So my question is: What do I need to replace & what is a good clutch to buy?
My engine is all stock but I drive pretty fast (probably why the clutch went out so quick) I've been looking on eBay & a stage 1 clutch catches my eye, but I was also informed that stage 2 & 3 clutches are better for those who drive their car harder?

Any feedback is really appreciated. Again, I know I don't know much about Honda's so any trolling or flaming will just be ignored.. Thanks!

well in my opinion, it all depends on what the plans are for the car. if you plan to build this car and plan to use that engine, then spend the money on a stage 2 or 3. If you plan to keep the car stock as a daily, stage 1 or even stock will be sufficient

Exedy OEM replacement. "Stage" means nothing. It is an arbitrary terms that is not standard between manufacturers.

Exedy stock replacement should be fine. Driving the car hard isn't going to affect much unless you're dropping the clutch repeatedly or carrying heavy loads. Stage 1, 2, 3, etc. don't really mean much either as every different company has different stages. You can get a race clutch if you want, but the heavier clamping force pressure plates will translate to a stiffer clutch pedal. Something worth noting; racing clutches generally don't come with any sort of a warranty and the clutch life is usually much less than OE replacements.

In my opinion its on how you drive I work for blumenthols trans in okc if you are hard on it or eventually want to drag it go with a stage two or three it will feel different then a stock clutch if none of the above replace with OEM clutch and is the cheapest option I have a stage two in my lude and love it
