I've got a 2001 Accord EX (4 cylinder VTEC, don't remember engine code) with very low (60 psi) compression in cylinder 3. It has 158k miles on it. Mechanics believe its the rings, not the valves or head. I am thinking of replacing the engine with a used JDM engine. I don't want to upgrade the engine, I just want to car to get me from A to B for another 2 years or so. Some years ago I did this with a 91 accord and got about 50k miles out of the used engine before I wrecked the car, so i'm somewhat familiar with this.

What are your thoughts on this? Good or bad experiences? reputable engine importers? estimated cost? Any input is appreciated.

 

Then why not just do the same again with the '01. Both cars share similar drivetrains.
