B16A SIR2 P30 94 EG CIVIC - rough idle, backfires, and 3 CEL codes
hey guys need some seriouse help.
car is idleing really weird. when i turn the key the fuel pump primes fine, check engine light turns off. i can hear the click, car starts fine but idles really rough around 800 rpm for approximatly 15 seconds then rises to 1200. check engine light comes back on as soon as the car is running. once driving the car bogs hard under acceleration in low revs. but feels restricted when i put the foot done (lack of power) and doesnt like going over 3k. when im shifting down gears the car sometimes backfires from the exhaust. iv checked the codes and gotten 3, 9 and 20. any help on trouble shoing the problem would be appreciated

I fixed my idling by the TPS sensor heads up
Code 3 Manifold Absolute Pressure (sensor)
-check to make sure you don't have the TPS and MAP plug switched



Code 9 No. 1 cylinder position (CYP)


Code 20 Electronic load detector (ELD)

You might have a bad Oxygen Sensor (O2) and a bad Air Idle Control Valve. If you can borrow it from someone, just get it and test it out. You don't always get codes for everything that's wrong with your car. Sometimes you have to narrow the problems to the root features/reasons of each main components of your car.

hey guys thanks heaps for the amount of help. since originally posting, iv swapped in a p28 ecu and idling seems to have improved somewhat. it sometimes backfires REAL loud but only on the odd occasion and only when downshifting i have noticed. found a small vacuum leak and once i blocked that off idle improved once again. it still restricted under acceleration and massive cop bait i hait driving it lol.
anyone keen to buy it? :p
iv performed some of those test with the multi today, only thing i found was the tps wires didnt have continuity.
im over it bad and cant afford a defect ill lose my license so i plan on taking it to hondworld soon then selling it.
