F20b Swap
Hey guys new to this forum... I've been a 240 and ae86 guy for years now... And i Recently got my hands on a 97 civic coupe for dirt cheap... Anyways i was driving to work and it started sounding like a subaru but crappier... I thought Plugs, wires, injectors?? Long story short its time for a swap. I like what I see with the f20b but you honda guys have a awesome swap mix match system...
Anyway can anyone help me with a no BS parts list for this to be done? or Point me in the right direction... Thanks guys

If it's a wring issue or something electrical you could have the same problem with your swap. Why not just fix the issue?
Could be injectors, plug wire, cap, rotor. Start with a compression check though.

See here is the thing.... Im tired of reading thread after thread with no clear cut answer.... And for each good thread that I do find its full of "get a h22" or "get a k20" comments...... ya feel me? LOL

From what iv gathered things you will need and correct me if im wrong people is the following:
h22a tranny bolts up.
h22a mounts?
h22a intake mainfold
h22a distributor? cause you have to obd1 convert?
as far as computer a chipped p 28 should work (its what im running in my h22a that is out of commission)
thats really all the info iv scavenged, this motor is really hard to find any clear info on. Please chime in with some more info guys!!

Most motors are as reliable as the owners were to them. Maintenance man.
And unless tuned I'd never run an H22 on a P28. If you aren't aware this could be your longevity issues. At wot the ecu runs as it does in open loop. It has preset values for fuel and timing maps. Meaning, your H22 is leaning out like a boss under load. How much more fuel do you think a 2.2l H22 needs at WOT compared to a 1.6l D16?

I was told from a buddy of mine that I can just use my stock d16 harness... and that i just have to add and snip a few wires... Looks like i'll be adding a H2B kit to the list. Everyone keeps telling me H trannys are trash... I dont really know... Like I said before... I've owned 3 240sx 89 hatch. 92 coupe, and 97... 2 AE86 85 SR5 <--- stolen

I did my oild changes every 3k miles with castrol gtx 5w 30 and napa gold oil filter religously since i swapped the motor in my car. It barely ever burnt any oil and ran awesome right up until it finally through the rod bearing. Clearly maintence was not my issue. And of course i did not run the stock d16 maps you smart ***. you have to be an idiot to do something like that. My car was tuned at teknotic which is sappose to be one of the best places to go get your car tuned in ontario. Clearly there was either a defect in the motor from factory or the guy in japan who ran the motor originally diudn't maintain it very well. The motor only had 90k miles on it when it died...

As for the F20B, I have had much experience working on them. Internally they have truly have been designed to be a race engine from the factory! With full floating wrist pins and small stroke for high revving you will really enjoy this power plant in your setup!
I'm also proud to know, I have influenced Bisimoto with developing aftermarket support for the F20B with such items as forged piston kits, h-beam steel rods and a few other things!

As for transmission, do ditch H/F series tranny's. H2B is the way to go, being you will tie in a torquey, high powered engine to a much stronger b-series transmission. Check out my buddies build that I am currently working on: F2B CRX Project
If you are in need of more help, feel free to PM me.
Well the hunt is on for the f20b... My wifey doesnt know it yet but it's going to happen.
Oh yea, will the weight of this motor bring the front end down? I have some cheapo aftermarket springs its on right now. Thats what it came with thats how its been. Really cant wait to start this one and do another build...
