Default H22 transmission problem

Just picked up a base 97 Prelude today. Transmission said to have been replaced with a 55k JDM tiptronic one. If I rev or run the engine remotely hard it spews fluid and it drips at and idle. Its dripping right where the two pieces of the trans case go together. Do I just drop the transmission and reseal the two pieces together with RTV? Or is this something more serious than a seal leak?

Pull the trans and trace the leak. The helms manual will have instructions and tips on how to do this.

I'd bet on the seals to the torque converter if it's leaking tranny fluid between the block and bell housing.... Chances are they fucked it up when they did the swap.

Its not leaking between block and bell housing, its leaking where the two pieces of the transmission case are sealed together. It wouldnt be the rear main either because that would be oil not transmission fluid

your best bet is to ask people who have this chassis on a site that specializes in this chassis. like preludepower or preludezone.

In that case get the Helms out and pull apart the tranny to reseal it. Check to see if you can get a used one cheaply might be easier than pulling apart an automatic.
Hopefully it's smooth sailing with your freshly acquired lude once you get this fixed.

Actually honda auto's are very easy to pull apart, I think they are easier then a manual... But they are both very similar

Consult the God of Helms... he shall show you the way... Trannys are pretty easy to bust out take it out take it apart and put it back together... I understand this is not the exact same tranny but this might help you as far as the tear-down...
