Default water temp gauge sensor install

so i'm looking to purchase a prosport water temp gauge, however i don't wish to have any unsightly adapter installed in my bay. i believe the honda oem sensor uses a different voltage signal than the prosport. wondering if i tap the oem signal wire and use a resistor inline with the prosport if i will get the correct reading.

Not sure about tapping into the oem harness, but they make inline adapters for hoses which I'm assuming would be pretty easy to install. Just put it on a hose on the back of your motor somewhere out of sight, like the heatercore hoses or somewhere by your thermostat.

Not in any way encouraging you to buy one off ebay, just giving you an idea of what I'm talking about.

@streetracer271, what brand of gauge were you using for this? i hear the autometers spike and pin at 270 degrees when trying this. however those gauges are mechanical.

i'm looking into the prosport electrical gauge.

More useful would be an alarm at a temperature set point, but I think the U.S. Patent office has stymied development of such a device. There's nothing as unsettling as looking down and your gauge is already pegged (too late).
