so last december i picked i up my 88 ef hatch now that the build is in its final stages i figured id start the thread on my build

first off i picked up completly stock ef that didnt have spark for 100 bucks and of coarse it was the module under the dash so i replaced that and it had spark. so i drove it for awhile after i picked up a cheep set of rims for 200 bucks . then one weekend slapped on a quick coat of paint, untill one day it blew a head gasket. That weekend i picked up a ricey p.o.s. crx that had a b18 coil overs and a better brake package then my car, so i slapped on another quick coat of paint to the engine bay and cleaned up the b18 block . then i found a set of hasport poly mounts for 80 bucks and started the build with the intent of building a nice autocross car. thats why i didnt spend a whole lot of time with the paint and other things to make it look pretty.

eh its ok some people would say it has some rice to it but i just didnt want anything to boring ;even for a track car (hense all the orange).

lol sounds good to me. my whole build hasn't set me back very much at all. infact here is the break down of it.
88 ef -$100
rims-$200
crx donor -$200
paint- $100
hassport poly mounts -$80
dpfi/mpfis conversion-$175
porting/ploshing dremel kit-$25.
i forgot to mention that i port and polished the b18 head for a little extra hp

 

Dam i wish i could get another ef for that cheap lol

its hard to find cars priced like that anymore, almost entirely profit if you sell it

no it fit right in nice, a little close on the alt. pulley but a short belt and a modifcation to the bracket fixes that.

ya i had the gps lost on back roads finding both cars, i was wayyyyy out on the outskirts of town

 

It take real Vision to turn somthing that looks like that into a nice car.

thanks. when i first saw the car though. i had my doubts i almost walked away because at the time i wasnt a honda guy.but i grabbed it brought it home and over the ugly brown interior put a set of rims on it and fell in love with it. now iplan on buying a few more.

 

The first few digits of the Vin tell country of origin.
The Vin itself also has trim level info.
If you want me to look it up for you, pm me the vin number.

It sounds like you have an 88std which is my favorite bc they're light!

 

if the vin starts with a j then it was made in japan

 

ya after the b series swap with full fluids it weights 2216. but im want shave alot more of that off some day.

 

so im getting toward the end of my build and i completed my ls swap and it runs and sounds great but im having somre sort of vaccume issue , my car starts kinda and idles up and down when it is running and ifi touch the gas it kinda bogs down the takes off..it runs good past 3 grand so its not a misfire but below that rpm it just doesnt seeem right? any ideas?

Op is it a bouncing idle or just in limp mode under 3grand?
