ZC vtec into an 96 EK
We wired everything up today and the car doesn't seem to start.
I have the OBD2A wiring harness, running off of an OBD2A distributor with a jumper harness for the P28.
My question is, I was told that I need to use an OBD1 distributor with a jumper harness to connect to the wiring harness in order for the car to fire up. If I use an OBD2A distributor, it won't work because the OBD1 is looking for the crank positioning sensor and other things.
Also, if I do decide to go with the jumper harness, are all the OBD1 distributors the same with the square plug; even if it's JDM?

It will still start with that distributor. Are you getting spark and fuel?

and if you have fuel and spark either it has no compression or the ignition timing is way off. How did you check for fuel at the rail or injector ???

we checked the fuel at the injectors after we changed the clips because obd2 and obd1 are different as well.
it turns out a few fuses were blown and the spark was slowly giving out so we changed out the coil and everything fires up.
i only have 1 bolt on the distributor because the pattern is different from obd2 and obd1. is that okay? Otherwise, I'll have to check the timing and everything else in the morning; didn't have time to test drive it.
thanks everyone for your help!
and yes, huntington beach, ca. i'll change that.

Well, that wasn't why i was asking. You really didn't have to change it.
I wanted to know simply becuase this is going to a royal pain in the *** for you to pass smog. Even more so that you only have one bolt on the dizzy. and it's not okay.
Putting an older engine in a newer car is a big no no, and it's on the federal level.

get an obd1 dizzy housing and swap the obd2 internals into it....I did the opposite when i swapped a y8 into my wifes eg to fix the bolt issues pretty cheap fix from a salvage yard.
98civdx - i appreciate the concern. i've been fortunate enough to never have gotten a ticket, much less asking to pop my hood. and i'm vaguely aware of the laws in place and i know everyone thinks they're the exception to the rule, my included =X but I was asking more for mechanically reliability factores.
could - i actually have the distributor that came with the motor! i'll take a look at it if it's not too difficult to do =[ if so, then I think I might just try to get a jumper harness for the distributor...
