Might be the brake pedal position switch. Have you tested it?

There may also be a split in the wire somewhere. Have you done any troubleshooting with a multimeter?

Pedal position switch? never heard of that....I will have to do some trouble shooting. What is the voltage range that is acceptable?

It's the switch on the brake pedal. Have a look down in that area and you will see it. It's a cheap fix and takes five mins to replace if so long.

Indeed.

Pull the covers off (under the dash), disconnect the brake pedal switch and test it.

Check terminals 1 and 2 (the larger of the four cavities) for continuity. There should be continuity when the pedal is pressed. (when the little button on the switch is out) and no continuity when the pedal is released. (when the button is pressed in)

If it's not functioning properly, replace it.

If it is functioning properly, you'll need to start tracking where the loss of power is occurring.
