Prelude f22a6 block, h23 head, timing issues?
I have a 93 Prelude SI with a f22a6 block and h23a1 non VTEC head. I went to start my car and it was running really crappy and I noticed my timing belt was really loose on one side and tight on the other. I just figured that it was a tensioner or something so I had it towed back to the shop I work at. But now that I have it all torn apart, my tensioners are working just like they are supposed to. I have the h23 timing belt and balance shaft belt like everything I've been reading tells me to do for this engine combination. the balance shaft belt fits perfectly and tightens down like it is supposed to. But the main timing belt won't tighten down. I have the tensioner maxed out and I can still slip the belt on and off with ease... The guy at the shop I work at is convinced that I just have the wrong belt. But everything thing I've read online tells me to use the h23 belt... This is mine and my girlfriend's only vehicle right now and I really need to fix it... Any ideas?
Suja1 went with a b16 water pump pulley on mine (i have the same setup). They said h23 would be 1 tooth too little and f22 would be one too many or vice versa. Dont remember which was which. My guess is that would be your problem. I do have the h23 belt.
