Default Adding bass suggestions?

Hey HT,

This isn't just as easy as adding a sub+box into my hatch since I like to use the space in my hatch (eg). I also have jdm interior, so I'm not trying to drill any holes either, so would the bazooka tube be my best option? I don't care what it sounds like outside of my car as long as the quality of my lows improves inside of my car.

What is your current setup? If you have a decent system in place already, sound-deadening your doors and laying down some MLV or foaming some gaps to eliminate road noise would make a big difference.

You could also try something like this:
Amazon Amazon

In some vehicles these will fit under the seats but I kindof doubt it will in your hatch.

I wouldn't recommend putting a sub under a seat.

Infinite baffle is an option

But then you'd need the processing to tune it and a bunch of other stuff..

Infinite baffle works if you can isolate the back wave, Works great in cars with sealed off trunks but in a hatch.....not so much. i could be wrong though. as for the OP's question, Bazooka's work great because they don't take up much space and are easy to remove if need be. Another option is an underseat subwoofer. I have one currently in my Impreza but because its so small, it runs outta steam pretty fast

Hey sorry about not referencing my current set up. I have Alpine Type S 6.5 speakers in the front with Kenwood 5.5 x 4 speakers in the rear (unfortunately I can't remember which model), also Alpine deck powered by Alpine PDX-f4.

The reason why I used the Kenwoods for the rear, is that I had them laying around for three years and were brand new. Didn't want to have to spend more money then needed.

How much would would sound deadening/laying down MLV or foam would cost around?

Thanks

Depends on what materials you used/if you do it yourself. I used audio-technix sound deadener butly/aluminum B-stock roll (I got 50sq feet of it for 100$ shipped, I used maybe 35 sq feet for my doors and trunk.) Usually it will cost a bit more than that, plus the time you need to invest. If you're looking for some cheap bump, go for the bazooka tube.

i'd remove the cargo box in the spare tire well and build a spare tire box if you want a sub. bazooka's aren't bad, however if you get one i'd run an external amp for it to get better sound from it.

Where would you suggest I place the 8 inch sub?

Unfortunately I wouldn't be able to do it myself due to the fact that I don't know how. Either way I go, this route or the B tube route I have a guy who handles all my audio/security, but since he does on his spare time I have to wait until he's available.

why not mount a bazooka tube on the hump behind the tunnel armrest, or in the floor board behind the driver seat with the amp under the seat. could put two tubes, one in each floor board and amps under passenger/driver side respectively.

Try RSX-type S Bose subwoofer. I got two under my trunk at the spare tire space. It kicking my back. cost me $30 each sub plus $20ish for the wire and switch. so $80.
