Default Differences in bass between hatch and trunk?

My buddy has a similar system to mine and he drives a 01 Civic coupe. From the outside his system seems to be a lot louder but mine is a louder on the inside. Given similar systems, would a hatch be able to achieve higher decibels in the inside with all seats up?

honda trunks are notorious (sp?) for eating bass, and being a bit on the um..."rattle-ie" side. *ducks*

If every thing was equal, I'd bet the hatch will be louder.

hatch has the smaller airspace, so it has the advantage.

How does a hatch have smaller airspace than a trunk?
