Info Request: Bending Rust/Rusty Metal
The last vehicle purchase I made had several bubbling sections. The buyer (Backyard Bodyman) and I spoke about various ways of working with rusty cars.
He told me of one method that I would like to confirm/discuss with members of this section.
He had spoke of how he and his employer restored a '32 Truck. One method he had used was pouring transmission fluid (brake fluid was an option) over the rust and bubbling sections. He had told me that if you apply enough coatings of the oil the rust becomes much easier to bend due to certain compounds/ingredients in the transmission fluid (He told me but I forgot).
Has anyone tried this?
I'm trying to find an easier (but effective) method to fix these areas.

I think I may have not communicated properly.
Looking at finding ways of flexing rust. Currently I have rust bubbles that are forming. Was seeking an alternative to just sanding/bondo etc.
Was thinking of flexing rust back to original form? Possible?
I'm just experimenting.

I'm still confused. Flexing it?
If you're talking about converting rust to iron phosphate ("black rust", if you will) , you need to use naval jelly (and the rust typically comes back when you do this.)
