paint problem

Default paint problem

hey guys started to clean up the eg hatch and for some reason the paint is just coming off even with just like windex heres some pics and camera sux and its in the engine bay even the fire wall and interior what would cause this.

lol how would i know if it was rust i was hoping it was factory paint thinking maybe someone sprayed degreaser and just killed it i guess a new engine bay tucked and shaved will work

so i guess the whole car has been repainted just got the car guys so dont know much about it sorry just wanted to have a hand cleaned engine bay lol so you dont think its factorys paint.

It seems that way, i have seen some crappy stuff happen with OEM paint in the engine bay, but nothing like that, but depending on chemicals that have been used on it, i suppose i have seen weirder things happen.

ok guys thanks im think owner before did something like degreaser or put on a bad chemical cause i got it from original owner.

Degreaser would not cause that. Are YOU sure all you used was Windex?

ya even with water it would wipe off i am thinking they painted rear bumper front and hood and maybe when they did a acid wash or something it got in there i dont know what happened

It almost looks like it was paint strippered in those areas, not saying you did that, that's just what it looks like. More than likely cheap paint and cheap paint job.

I have small areas of the inside of my trunk floor that this has happened to. Virgin car, cleaned with diluted Simple Green.Painted places like the trunk and under the hood were all single stage, so they're not as resistant as the rest.

looks like you used thinner on some cheap single stage paint. try wiping the bottom of the rockers up under the door sill and see if you get color on your rag.
