Default What alarm system do you use/reccomend for a prelude and why?

I dont know how to edit the title, but i meant for any Honda in general.

just had a run in with some rats a couple nights ago. they were snooping in my cars windows.

im wondering a couple questions:

how much about does it cost to have someone install a viper alarm system?

im looking at the viper alarms in the 300-400 $ range.

unless there is a better brand u recommend?

this is the first time coming onto the security/audio forums so i hope im not asking the questions that are asked all the time.

i wanted to use the money to paint the car but better safe than sorry.

You kind of are asking a common question but no worries im sure everyone does it at least once and awhile.

Stealth install with backup battery and piezio siren highly recommended. Instead of getting top of the line $400 viper (unless you meant after install)....get something decent but cheaper so you can spend more on installation and accessories. Buying the best wont do much good if the system isnt properly installed.

The viper 5901, or similar python/clifford are probably the most popular. There is also the AutoPage C3-RS915-LCD which I have heard good things about (a guy on amazon had 3 different ones including the viper 5901 and gave a good review). I bought the encore e9 myself but havent installed it so I cant say much other than I have heard good info about it, cheap on amazon

One thing to keep in mind is that the higher-end Viper, etc. alarms have much better range on their 2-way pagers. You certainly don't have to use the extra features like remote-start, but the extra range might be worthwhile. It really depends on where you routinely park your car.

As said, battery backup, tilt, motion, and a hood switch. Definitely upgrade the backup battery as the ones that come with the kit are basically useless.

The utility of the piezo siren is debatable. I have one of these, and while annoying, it is not a "pain generator" by any stretch and would not cause anyone to flee the vehicle in terror (IMHO).
