Default Suspension and wheel setups.

Sorry if this has been covered before.

I'm looking to lower my 09 SI and upgrade from the stock wheels. Not trying to set it up for racing or anything crazy. Want to give it a more aggressive stance.

-suspension-
What I'd like to know, and see, are some setups for minor lowering. I want to lower the car a little bit and would like to know what would be the best way to do this. I'd like to avoid replacing the shocks if possible. I did little research and found tein lowering springs that will work on oem shocks with a drop of 1.2 inches. Anyone use these or something like it? And what results did you get and was it worth it, did it kill the ride quality? Looking for good input on this.

-wheels-
As far as wheels go, I would like to know what is the widest wheel you can have before the tires will rub on the inside of the wheel wells. And I mean when turning, not driving in a straight line. What offset should I look for or just stick with whatever the oem offset is?

If this has been covered countless times, I apologize. If anyone can provide pictures, or links, that would be great. Thanks for any good advice.

Also.... Money is really no object. Doesn't mean I want to go crazy with this, just so you all don't think I'm one of those "I want the best results for little money" peeps. Well, at least for the suspension, I plan on getting bronze TE37's. This is more or less just a small personal project.

Thanks again.

I would suggest the eibach prokit, it provides around a 1-1.2 inch drop. I have them on stock shocks and the ride is fine. As for wheels, look for something in the 17x8 range and an offset of 35-40. You won't have any rubbing issues, and if you want to, you can reuse your oem tires. I would suggest a 225/45 on an 8 inch rim though.

Awesome, thanks for the quick reply. You wouldn't happen to have any pictures of your setup would you? Just want to get a good mental picture going.

HFP springs will do the same, and they are OEM so they are warranty covered!

That looks good. Do you get any issues with scraping or bottoming out?

And as far as the hfp springs are concerned, where can I go to see about pricing for those? I've checked a couple aftermarket websites and can't find them.

Never mind, found a site that sells the HFP kit. How does the HFP suspension compare to the stock SI suspension.

Theyre about the same comfort wise, just about 3/4 an inch lower.

That might be the way to go. A lot of the roads suck where I live (pot holes, bumps, etc), which is why the height is kind of important. Can't forget the rain and snow either, need to be able to get around in crap conditions without worrying about getting stuck. Probably end up being between the eibach pro kit or the hfp kit. Unless the hfp springs will fit without problem on my SI shocks. Don't really want to spend $500-600 on the hfp kit when I can get the same result for $250.

The hfp shocks are shorter than oem si, so I don't know if you'll get the same drop without springs and shocks.

I wouldn't install aftermarket springs without the struts to go with them. Get the HFP kit if your only other option is Eibach springs on stock struts.

Yea, I'm going to buy the hfp kit. I don't mind spending the money to get things right the first time. I've read enough threads and viewed enough pictures to make up my mind. Best part is, it's from Honda. Don't have to worry about warranty.

Now that that's settled, I gotta find me some te37's or cr Kai's!

Not to steal from the thread, but does anyone sell just the HFP struts? Everyone I see selling them include the springs.

Everything I've found shows it as a kit. Probably have to find someone selling them used or just piecing out a car.
