Car likes a specific transmission fluid?
I just bought this car and I've been doing maintenance stuff its got 200k on it so you get an idea.
So I changed my MTF about a week ago to Redline. I wanted Honda MTF but they were out of it. I drive a week with the Redline and hated it. Gears are hard to get into I had to really push hard and double clutching didn't help.
So yesterday I got some GM Synromesh Friction Modified everybody raves about it was AC Delco in a white bottle though same stuff. I changed it last night I did try to put a little more in by filling through the speed sensor hole on top about 2.5 quarts. Drove it around about 10 miles last night felt alot better. I drive about 50 miles to work today and I still get some shifts that are tough to get into but way better than Redline.
I'm thinking I should of just got Honda MTF because its still not as good then when I got the car. I'm assuming that was what was in it though.
Anybody else go through this their car likes a certain fluid? Or is it me not shifting right?

Wait, double clutching didn't help? That doesn't sound right.
The car absolutely will feel better with some fluids compared to others. However, if the previous fluid hadn't been changed in quite some time, the first change might very well make it feel significantly worse, since the fresh detergents could knock all kinds of gunk loose. The next change after that would help clear it out.
Nothing but Honda MTF in my GSR, and perfectly easy shifts, but it's only been changed twice since new due to only having 101k miles...

Idk I posted a thread on team integra also and some of those guys think it might also be my clutch after I told them some other stuff thats been happening. I've felt ticks when pushing the clutch in and sometimes it will seem like its sticky when I'm trying to ease it out to engage. One time I tried to rev up to 5k in 4th and just shift into 5th and I put the clutch in and I felt this metal bending feeling. Havent tried it again just being easy on it now. I think I'm going to go ahead and get a new clutch couldn't hurt. I'm going to do all the bushings also while I'm at it.
Redline is not the fluid I would recommend in a Honda MT. The lowest viscosity rating they have in the MT fluid is 70w80 which is way to high for a Honda MT. Maybe if you had a clutch type LSD but on a stock Mt? No way. This higher viscosity fluid could easily be why your MT is hard to shift. Drain that **** out and put Honda MTF in there. I've used 5w30 motor oil with good results as well.
