Default GSR Rebuild crank question

So I'm in the process of rebuilding my gsr after it spun a bearing the bottom end was already built before I got the car and from what the machine shop said the previous owner had been spraying. The motor had forged eagle rods forged pistons and an eagle crank every rod was bent and the machine shop said for the crank to be reused I would have to go 30 over on the crank which he said isnt good for driving around town. He suggested I go with an ls crank in my motor. He has already sleeved the block and put a block gaurd I dont want takea chance on a stock ls crank even though he said it will be better for my desired build. I'm looking for a second opinion on the crank before I go out and spend more money I'm already 3k into this overhaul I dont want to ruin the motor cause the machinist wanted me to use the new crank he has.

it's up to you. you can use either gsr or ls crank with corresponding rods. the ls will give you just a little extra displacement.

I plan on turbo ing the motor. after I break it in. I was gonna buy another Eagle crank but the guy said its a waste of money.

The Eagle crank is a waste of money. Go with the LS crank and rods. This mechanic is actually steering you in the right direction.

And is the engine sleeved or does it have a block guard? It can't be both...

He said because of the scoring on the inside of the cylinder walls The sleaves needed to be replaced I bought the block guard that goes around the outside of the cylindar walls in between the block and the cylindars and gave it to him also

throw away the block guard. get real sleeves, not replacement liners.

this whole build sounds like it should have been a call to golden eagle. as pointed out you can be sleeved or block guarded, not both. the ls crank is also fine as is another gsr or itr crank. clean cranks are somewhat hard to find and actually fetch solid bids on ebay. like 300-350
