GSR Trans with 4.7fd & Quaife LSD or BNIB USDM ITR with OEM LAD
Hey guys, I rarely post these threads bc I usually lurk and do a ton of research, but now I'm really stuck, and would love some input.
I currently have an EM1 with a very healthy JDM GSR and bolt ons, and I plan to DD my car for the next year and hit the track hopefully once a month. I bought a USDM GSR trans off a "friend of a friend" that was rebuilt and had a 4.7 Type R final drive, and was said to have an "LSD."
The gear ratios are great, and the tranny shifts awesome found out the "LSD" is a POS Phantom Grip, and when I push the car over 120mph I'm starting to get a ton of vibration and chatter. In addition, the outer bell housing got cracked somehow and has JB Weld sealing it. (Not a good idea to hit the track.)
So I have 2 options: buy a Quaife ATB Helical LSD :bang: and buy a new bell housing to get the Trans up to par (around $1,600 total in parts and labor,) OR I say **** it and buy a brand new OEM USDM ITR with factory LSD (around $1,800 shipped) and then sell the trans I have to recoup some funds and let someone else build upon it.
From your experience, what do you think would be the more worthwhile investment? Thank you in advance for the help!

from personal experience, i would call dave at synchrotech and explain your problems, if your **** shifts like butter and only has a cracked outer case, he has cases you can buy and can sell you a synchrotech lsd and probably have your tranny rebuilt for the price of an itr with all new parts, but thats all up to you
and another from personal experience, its not safe to go 120 on city roads there is people with families and children just like me so stop driving like an idiot thankyou
