Hi there, I have read a LOT of info on the net but I am after an adjustable front upper arm for my EJ1 (92-95 civic/94-01 integra kit)
Some people say Skunk2 have been excellent, others say the ball joints failed after 1 year etc. Others say the bushes failed.
I also don't know what gen of Skunk2 camber arms they are talking about when they speak of these failures.
However, I was thinking of purchasing the SKunk2 Pro series arms and adding hardrace hardend rubber bushes. I don't really like poly bushes as I see many fail and fall apart or have too much compliance. Or just get squeaky very quickly.
I like the skunk2 arms for:
1: 1 year warrenty
2: adjustable from bottom
3: Supposely a decent ball joint that doesn't bind
Worried about
1: Ball joint failing
2: Replacement ball joints must be expensive skunk2 type to fit arm?
I notice there are kits on eBay that look EXACTLY like the Skunk2 pro series. For half the price....
What do you all think of the copy eBay kits? Stay away, or exactly the same but different colour?
This is a car that will frequently see the track, smashing over ripple strips. Also see road driving.

Ebay, kit 3 year warrenty! Worried that the ball joint looks substandard and the boot doesn't have pre-crease marks for a better fit.

This is a hard choice to make and is mostly due to the market sentiment. As most people look for cheaper items to satisfy there needs. I would recommend AMR's front camber kits. The quality of their coilovers convinces me that there quality is applied in their camber kits. Remember hard track driving will mean alignments so get friendly with your local alignment guru. Also suggest replacing any bushings with new oem rubber or hardrace rubber bushings. Skunk 2 is not really recommended, eBay is especially frowned upon. The main reason being safety and longevity. Saving for the right parts will be far less expensive over the long run. And peace of mind isn't so bad either.
Just my $.02
i'd be willing to bet the skunk2 and ebay kits are the exact same thing, made in the same overseas factory, with different color schemes.

Thanks for the replies, the purple one is also offered in red
eBay isn't exactly frowned upon as there are some quality brands on eBay.
I perform my own alignments on laser alignment machine at the alignment shop. (friend owns one)
Nearly all bushes are replaced, toe and camber are spherical.
I'll look into the Amr kit. Having trouble finding info on the net. Saw a facebook page with pictures. The eg/dc kit appeared to not come with bushes. Plate looks to securely fix, can't comment on ball joint. Looks good though
As its a track car it needs to do the job properly

Hardrace makes a set as well, I am thinking of getting for my EJ1. I too have read of issues with the Skunk2 ones.

No not hardrace, they have clearance issues on race cars such as mine at the ride heights we run. (less than 300mm centre of wheel to gaurd)
I have other hardrace items on my car however

At this stage I'm going with skunk2 style of arms on eBay, as the company I asked offered me 3 year warrenty which covers the ball joints.
Or the AMR racing camber kit, however only AMR if they reply to my email I sent them asking questions about the kit.
As their kit is at this stage untested which includes ball joints. However the AMR kit looks VERY VERY nice. It's also over twice the price once landed in NZ.
If my eBay stuff fails me then i'll go AMR for sure. I'll post back here if the eBay kit fails.
Heck for the price of the ebay arms, if I don't like em I can always hock em off to a road car which would prob suit em just fine.

Has anyone had any experience with Skunk2 arms flexing with big spring rates and slicks?
I hear they have some flex?
How you would measure this?

Spring rates shouldn't have anything to do with it. As far as measuring flex, a couple of strain gages and a Wheatstone bridge would allow you to log it. I highly doubt the skunk2 arms have more flex than stock, they actually seem to be built more sturdy than the stock ones, and I'd be surprised if anyone in this forum has actually tested it anyway.

Can't say that I've ever measured this but I can tell you from personal experience that after a big off during a 1 hour race, there was no change in camber with my skunk2 front uca's. The hit to the side of the car registered close to 3g's with no change in alignment.

Hmmm interesting, thanks for the reply.
Yeh a racer here in NZ informs me that they can get some arm flex during cornering with big slicks and spring rates.
Personally I don't see how this can be, looking at the stock arms vs the braced skunk2 arms. Perhaps he was talking about arm flex IN THE POLY bushes. It's probably not the arm itself.
Thought I'd ask, as hardrace style of arms appear much more robust.
P.S You should see the flex you can get in the stock rear trailing arm at the toe link connector!

I'd ask him how he determined that they were flexing.
The trailing arm doesn't surprise me, it gets loaded in bending. The front uca's are only getting loaded axially though, so unless they are beginning to buckle or are being flexed fore/aft I just don't see it.
