Hey whats up guys. I really need your help. I hear an annoying squeaking noise in my engine bay. It sounds like its comming from under the intake manifold, but I am not positively sure. I tried to look under it but I couldn't really see anything that might make that noise. If ANYONE has any idea or can help me, that would be extremely appreciated. Thanks in advance.

 

check ur belts

 

belts as in which one? I replaced my timing belt about 20K miles ago

 

check the alternator, power steering, and ac belts(if you have ac). if it's coming from behind/under the intake manifold, it's probably the alternator if it is a belt. just press on them a little bit and see if there is a lot of slack, there shouldn't be much.

 

Does it happen only when driving? check you hood, mine was squeeking when I went over bumps, I just put some wd40 on the latch.

 

It happens when my car is stopped and its idling. It makes *squeaky squeaky* and pause then goes again. I tried hitting the intake manifold and whenever i did it, there was a squeaking noise.

my car does that also, it does it only when i just started up the car? and after a while like few seconds, it will go away? i changed the belts a while ago, what's wrong with them, why is it making nosie? too tight?

 

Yah mind does that. And sometimes mine will do it more when it is raining. I am almost certain it is a belt, but which one?

 

whenever i hear the squeaking sound from under the hood, i tighten the alternator belt and it goes away.

Becaus when you first start up your car, the belts and pulleys are cold. After a short while, the belt/pulley heats up and lets the belt grip better, that's why it goes away. Tighten your alternator belt. All it takes is a 12mm wrench- I use a jack handle or hammer handle to push against it to tighten the belt.

 

My car makes the squeaking noise when its in idle. Yes it is a 5 speed. Can it be that my motor mounts could be a little lose?
